Oshawa, Sept. 6-7, 2012 - The Investors Group 50+ Ontario Pickleball Open held at Kingsway College in Oshawa on Sept. 6 and 7, 2012 was by all accounts a huge success. The facility was excellent and players appreciated the job done by the organizers, referees, volunteers and scorekeepers. Congratulations to the winners and to all players in both the Recreation Division and the Competitive Division for helping to make this a successful event. The list of medal winners can be found on our Tournament Listings & Results page. A photo gallery will be posted as soon as the photos are available. Thanks also go to our main sponsors, Investors Group and the Quality Hotel for their support financially and otherwise.
The first Annual General Meeting of the PAO was held at the conclusion of play on Sept. 6 at the Quality Hotel. 92 people were in attendance for the business portion of the meeting and the social which followed. The thirty or so door prizes supplied by pickleball companies and local businesses were an added bonus for those attending. The membership approved a new executive consisting of: Bill Gohn (Port Perry), Mike Root (Windsor), Peter Singleton (London), Ken Twilley (London) and Roy Wilson (Port Perry).
The 2011-2012 Directors appreciated the support provided by all our members who helped make this tournament a success.

Why Join the PAO?
The PAO is a non-profit association of volunteer pickleball enthusiasts whose main goal is to promote the sport of pickleball across the province of Ontario. This goal is best achieved through our legally incorporated organization.
Some players want to know, "What's in it for me?". the PAO is not intended to serve or benefit ONE individual participating in this sport. The PAO will provide advice and support to ALL Ontario players and clubs. It will facilitate events which include players from all parts of Ontario.
As an incorporated entity the PAO has positioned itself to solicit support from sponsors and government agencies. This will enable the PAO to achieve it's vision of promoting the sport for the benefit of ALL in the years to come.
We do this of course because we love the sport and want others to enjoy it as much as we do.
Detailed goals:
Affiliated Organizations:
The PAO maintains a close affiliation with the Pickleball Canada Organization (PCO). We support any and all undertakings of the PCO and follow the same International Federation of Pickleball (IFP) rules of play that the PCO does. We encourage all PAO members to also join the PCO. For more information go to the PCO website at http://pickleballcanada.org/.
The PAO is also closely affiliated with the Ontario Senior Games Association (OSGA). Thanks to the OSGA pickleball was introduced as a regular event at the 2010 Ontario Senior Summer Games in Oshawa. The PAO and OSGA worked together to organize the first ever senior games pickleball tournament at that event. The OSGA website can be found at http://www.ontarioseniorgames.ca/. We encourage anyone over the age of 55 to see what the OSGA has to offer and sign up today for membership privileges.
